A selection of games and concepts that I have created or contributed in.

Help Scooby-doo & the gang save crystal cove from monsters escaping the museum.

  • Leading development of this upcoming tower defense free to play mobile browser game.
  • Championing the creative vision for the game, ensuring it remains true to its roots throughout development.
  • Creating multiple mechanics/systems working holistically and consistently with the game’s vision and pillars.
  • Collaborating with programmers, artists, producers, QA, and other roles within Kuato Studios and externally to ensure a multifaceted approach to the project’s design factoring the needs of all areas of development.
  • Creating and maintaining vision and technical design documentation for reference and briefing, including proof-of-concept presentations, high level design summaries and detailed design schematics.
  • Balancing in-game items, gameplay difficulty, economy and its meta systems based on the high level goals of different systems in the game.
  • Understanding and adapting to the commercial and production goals throughout the project and designing within its parameters.

  • Building playable experiences in line with story briefs provided by design lead.
  • Identifying and finding solutions for areas of friction in story building and collaborating with other disciplines to achieve solutions within tool limitations.
  • Level designing and camera placements to highlight tool strengths.
  • Implementing animations for each character rig via animator.
  • Creating and implementing prefabs within data files in Unity for use within the Story Playback tool.

  • Analysing and identifying areas of friction in the earlier version of Story Maker as part of the R&D team.
  • Developing and maintaining an in-depth document detailing feature improvements and suggesting new features, with a focus on simplicity, scalability, usability and reliability.
  • Communicating ideas, intent, and constraints to both technical and non-technical team members.
  • Collaborating with lead developer to reach feature implementation solutions within set deadlines and achieve story design vision.
  • Identifying required assets to achieve story vision.
  • Creating and implementing prefabs within data files in Unity for use within the Story Playback tool.
  • Collaborating with animator to achieve desired character poses for use within stories.

A VOICE RECOGNITION conflict resolution DIALOGUE SYSTEM for children.

  • Crafting a range of storylines – from high-level arcs to particular plotlines and scene descriptions.
  • Writing dialogue and descriptive texts to match character personality and scene requirements.
  • Designing, improving and implementing dialogues to make the characters sound and feel alive.
  • In-game implementation of audios and recordings for each scene using in-house custom tools.
  • Set dressing and implementation using in-house tool.
  • Liaising with lead to define scenario and dialogue technical requirements and guidelines for level progression, in line with current national curriculum for each age group.

An open world with a range of educational games for kids to explore.

  • Collaborating with design team to create a feature list and define the design pillars for all platform games, in line with market research and the national curriculum.
  • Exploring several game concepts in line with the defined feature list.
  • Brainstorming and creating pitches that articulate how these concepts uphold the game’s design pillars and drive the desired player educational development.
  • Prototyping concepts to find the fun.

  • Integrating art and code being created across whole game.
  • Marking up game objects within game as part of integration.
  • Writing C# scripts for selected prototype ideas.
  • Paper and digital prototyping variants for existing and new gameplay mechanics.
  • Liaising with leads to prioritise new content based on scope and finessing existing content.
  • Using project-specific tools to greybox layouts and mechanics in line with briefs provided by senior designer.
  • 3D Level creation & balancing.
  • Brainstorming and pitching design ideas to team in line with briefs provided by senior designer.
  • Helping to improve management tools by highlighting areas of inefficiency and suggesting improvements.

On-the-fly character switching puzzles exploring father-daughter bond.

  • We’re OK is a story-heavy puzzle platformer where the player can weaken or mend a broken father-daughter bond by completing or skipping puzzle segments.
  • All assets were created by me (except music & SFX).
  • Design: gameplay and balanced levels, 3 camera viewports using Cinemachine.
  • UI Design: splash screen, start menu, in-game menu, narration system, win/lose screens.
  • Narration Design: exploring a father-daughter bond in a backdrop of losing a terminally sick family member.
  • C# Scripting: movements, UI updates using triggers, using playerPrefs, character toggle system
  • 2D Art: characters, environment, narration bubbles

  • Mr & Mrs Pie is an upcoming story-heavy platformer where the player follows a couple looking for their missing child.
  • Being made in collaboration with Missing People.
  • Designing gameplay, levels, storyline and UI.
  • 2D Art: characters and environment.
  • UI Design & Programming : Start menu, in-game menu.
  • Animations: frame animations, environment animations.
  • C# Scripting: movements, UI updates using triggers, collectables.

A jungle-themed 3D platformer MOD made with Unity LEGO Microgame.

  • Added event triggers and gameflow logic using behaviour LEGO bricks
  • Assembled LEGO bricks to make 3D models using Bricklink Studio 2.0
  • Added occlusions culling, skybox, particle effects
  • Level design: reimagining new gameplay ideas using existing code, reusing assets to create different environments, strategically placing props to guide player through game
